I seriously doubt that it's an issue. Likely different anti corrosion treatment.

Here are some chain measurements in mm ......
Old Gen 4 outer plate 1.31 inner plate 1.77 inner link OD to OD 9.41
C3220. outer plate 1.27 inner plate 1.49 inner link OD to OD 9.11
The biggest difference is the thickness of the inner plates and total width of inner links ..

It's probably just the way the picture looks, It's common to manipulate color to contrast against a white background.
As far as the quality of the chain itself, It's a low dollar budget chain, I wouldn't use one on anything other than a basic build or as a stock replacement.

Due to roller lifters, LS engines are relatively easy on timing chains, so even "budget chains" live surprisingly long lives.

Well I found a thread from 9 years ago that touches on many of the very things I tried to point out here https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...questions.html
In conclusion this is my opinion on the matter . While Jegs and Summit both use description of HD or heavy duty , in reality I would not describe it as such. Its just a stock OEM replacement. It's probably an upgrade for an LS1 chain or an early truck. The c3220 is a better choice than the c3210. But if it were me I would go with a factory LS2 chain over the c3220

Yes these chains are cheaper than an ol worn out broom ! Been watching them on Amazon for the last 7 months , never seen them at that price . Usally they trend at $39 up but couple weeks ago they dropped to $33 and still at that price presently. I believe rockauto sells them at $29 but when you add shipping your back up to $39. I can get a LS2. Chain for $40

You'll have no problem with the c3220 kit. Personally, I run that kit in my car and never thought anything of it. I posted about the same topic a while ago when I was building my motor and it more or less is the same chain.
