Default Eagle Rod H Beam

Hey guys. i have a question. im building an LQ9 and i know when you put the rods on the crank its supposed to be (chamfered)(flat)(flat)(chamfered) but these rods that i purchased are chamfered on both sides(part number CRS6100M3D) so Im assuming theyre omni-directional? The engine isnt in the car yet so if i need to dig in and flip them i can. Any help would be great! thanks!

in both of these pictures you can see theres no definitive marking or step out like how there is on stock rods where its clearly a flat side and a chamfered side. these are identical on both sides so i just put them in with the logo facing the front of the block on all the pistons for OCD reasons.

Why not call the vendor and let them tell you?

If you have side clearance between the rods, you’re probably ok. It looks like a stock crank so it probably doesn’t matter anyways.

the way i placed them in the block i put all the logos toward the front. just so happens that that means on one side of the block the rods have the oil pin facing up, the other side are facing down.

As KCS said, with a stock crank it doesn’t matter. The Oem cranks have no radius to the journals.

mayBE with these particular rods that may be true but with summit rods, that isnt true. I put one in the wrong way and the engine did not turn....stock crank.

That was probably a different problem than what we're talking about.

gotcha. I just wanted to throw that out there in Case a newb came across this and thought any rods could go either way with a stock crank. Thats all.

Silk screened lot numbers on the rod and cap towards pan rail. The fillet on the stock crank rod journal is almost non existent but I’d still install them with the larger bevel towards the fillet.

I called Eagle. They clarified that there is a larger bevel on one side, but its not much larger. im gonna have to take it apart and flip them. while im in there im gonna lathe the dome off my piston. I calculated a 11.7:1 CR and im just not comfortable with that. my new CR should be 10.9:1 which im more comfortable with. I appreciate your response!
