An average well built 383 should reach 460-470ish wheel in an auto and a 9". It will take quite a bit of extra to push 500 wheel unless it is a stick.

Edit: in a street driven car with good manners

That throws out 3/4 of the builds. Everyone has a "street car" and the threshold is exactly what their setup is

It was a joke. I'm pretty sure I could find some internet article about how ANY state is the worst. The whole point of DA is to equalize altitude between different locations so obviously a higher altitude is worse assuming similar temp/humidity conditions.

Not exactly true...ask national level racers that run all over the country where they would rather run...Denver or (Florida, Georgia, miss, etc). The temp doesn’t have to be similar at all for the air density to still be much better in Florida than it is in Denver. It could be 30 degrees hotter in Florida and you would still have denser/better air than Denver. Take your car to Denver and you are going to make less boost due to air density and make a ton less power. It seems so obvious and proven I can’t even understand how anyone would argue this.

383 LS1 can be nothing to sneeze at, but I think its just a lot of folks really prefer what the larger 4.0-4.060+ bores are capable of. That small 3.9 bore is a choker in comparison. Its too bad the LS1 can't be bored .040" or .060" over.

I'll bite on that one all day. The only ones saying boost is boring are either A) The ones who've never done a boost build, or B) The ones who failed at doing a boost build or didn't finish it.
I do agree though, having a better behaving street mannered car that makes more power, WAY more torque, and typically ends up cheaper in the long run can be boring

Sorry to pipe on but it's not about own power. Under the curve with a 383 is more fun and faster, without question.

The 6.0 is popular because it's done. Check the junk yard block and go from there if all is well.

It makes more power EVERYWHERE vs a 346 with like components. It also eats a larger cam and make sit easier to drive. Lots of reasons to go for a 383 over a 346 but the 346 is no slouch.
