Default Cam swap

I’m putting a 6.0 in my “shop truck” replacing the 5.3 in it now. Trying to do it on sort of a budget as I have 2 other race cars finishing up. Wanting to transplant the 706 heads and the cam ( see specs below) off the 5.3. I’m putting the summit forged pistons and rods in it as they seem to be budget friendly and bumping up the static compression to about10:1 Mostly wanting any cam gurus to tell me that I can get by with this cam. Thanks

If you look at the "Truck" cams offered by Cam Motion & BTR for 6.0 it will give you a good idea.

Since. Budget Build and if you can just Hone, I would suggest Ls2/Lq9 Flat Top Pistons for less money and like 11.2:1 Compression with 706s. Cam will be fine with about a 3200 stall and 3.73-4.10 gears. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Any good guess if I went that route what about the dynamic compression would be with this cam.

I got 9.6 dynamic with this calculator using flat top pistons, -.005 deck clearance, 61.5 cc chambers and a 4.040 gasket. I'm not sure what the gasket bore actually is though.

But that cam is in now way odd for a 6.0, should work well.

Is a dynamic compression of 9.6 - 9.8 safe for premium pump gas. Like I said above, not a daily driver, just a “shop truck” you know”. 😁

I feel like my calculations are wrong some how, 9.6 seems too high, and I believe, don't quote me, that 8.6 is about as high as you want to go.

But I also know guys run cams around that size, and larger and smaller all the time without issue in a setup like yours.

I must be doing something wrong or don't know something, because I put my bone stock motor in a calculator and it came up to over 10:1 dcr.

I don't know why I was entering flat tops in the calculations yesterday, that's gonna make the static compression really high. I was thinking "guys run cams like that all the time in similar setups" but they usually do 706's on LQ4's and I was putting it in like it was an LQ9 with flat tops, so scratch that lol.

What I don't know to give you an exact answer is head gasket bore, rod length, piston deck height, piston dish or dome volume, and rod length.
I played with numbers like 4.040 for the gasket bore, 6.125 rod length since they're aftermarket but still could be 6.098, set deck height at 0 since they're aftermarket pistons, took a wild guess on piston volume and entered like 8 cc for piston dish

But when I went back just now and played with numbers and got it to read 10:1 static compression I got 8.49 to one dynamic with your cam's 42 degree IVC
I think static was closer to 11.5:1 when I got the 9.6

Don't quote me, but I think 8.6 is around the highest you want dynamic, that's what I've read from people smarter than me.

1. Was thinking I needed to jump up the injectors to 60lb and put in a walbro 255 pump. Does this sound about right for the build.
2. pros vs cons of long tube headers.
3. Should Head gasket bore be 30 to 40 over the cylinder bore,
4. What should my target quench be for this setup.

thanks for any info
