Default Cam recomendations

Have a 2000 firebird
ls1 m6.
Full bolt ons, suspension gears etc all supporting mods.
Car is street/strip mostly strip and car show nice day car.
I have a set of 5.3 heads with btr .660 springs im going to be putting on it.
Would like some recomendations of max effort cams that will still have enough ptv clearance.
Was thinking along the lines of tick polluter, ms4 trex etc.
Let me know what u guys think

Get a cam to take full advantage of those truck heads, and no bigger.
And use springs to suit the cam, not the biggest/baddest ones around. That is a huge amt. of lift capacity considering the cam you'll be able to use.

I don't think max effort and enough ptv clearance can be used in same sentence.
If alot cams had ptv clearances issues ,sales would drop off alot. Max effort. Forsure requires more effort on your end.

I run the Tick Polluter V2 and love it.

You're going to need compression (I'm around 11.5 : 1)

Im assuming you have 3.23 gears, you will need something around 3.90's

You will also need to spin it. I shift mine at 7200 rpms.

I should be alittle over 11:1 compression with the 5.3 heads with 61 cc chambers.
I have 4.11 gears and i was thinking of shifting at 7k.

We always recommend you check but Summit Pro LS cams (except SUM-8721) won't require valve reliefs except in very rare instances of extreme head milling or extra large intake valve diameters. Stage 4 SUM-8709 (237/246 113 + 3 .625/.605) is a good max effort cam if the drivetrain is built to accomodate it's powerband.

Match the gasket bore to the block. So in this case, use the 5.7 gasket bore diameter.

Use a gasket with a 3.905-3.910 diameter.

I decided to get a tsp tsunami v2 cam.
Now have questions about the 706 heads i have.
The heads have had a valve job but po kept stock size valves. Should i get them cnc ported and keep the stock size valves or send them to tsp for stage 2.5 upgrade?
I can get them cnc ported for $500
Not sure if the cost of bigger valves is worth it or not.

I would do as you mentioned, to send them out for the Stage 2.5 CNC port and valve upgrade.
It is a pretty good deal and TSP does a good job. It will serve your purposes quite well.
