I have a silverado with a 6.0 with a big cam and a 4l80 trans, I want to change the 3800 stall it has for something more streetable like a 2600, would it be better to change the cam or can a run the same one?

That combo sounds about perfect, what's the problem? Lack of traction/ to loose for your preference? Just curious..... Or single disk and not being "tow" friendly when you have to pull up from a boat ramp loaded.... A little more info here could get you better responses to your question... Or better yet if it's a quality converter, just see if the company you bought it from can do a restall to better match your goals. My .2¢ wourth any way.

alright so the truck is making around 500 whp and with that stall and cam combo I cant get traction on the street and I also want to make the truck better for a daily driver and to make trips without having to worry about it over heating the trans

Big *** stand alone tranny cooler, put a fan on top it. Then start thinking about your rear gear ratio and if it's suited to the type of driving your doing. Lastly would be addressing the traction issue. For me I'd be thinking Detroit Tru trac/ stud the main (caps) use arp ring gear bolts. Then focus on tires/ tire pressure to put that america size HP to the ground....

Agreed and a Super deep trans pan for added capacity.
