For a 400 horsepower I would run a factory piston. A 800 horsepower build is a different story.

Spend the money on a nice head, cam and intake setup.

WS6 Store have some pistons called ICON for 450 dollars. They will get the job done easily.

Check out the Summit Racing pistons SUM-17400C.

These are for press fit rods.

As mentioned, stock will do at that power level but, these forged pistons are not that much more than new stock replacement Hypereutectic.

Grab some used gen 3 4.8 pistons and put them on your 5.3 rods, or just grab some gen 4 5.3 pistons/rods.

I can't even fathom going with forged pistons at only 400 HP.

I mentioned this already The 4.8 pistons are going to have the best compression height anyways people just don't want to save their money lol
anyhows at this point if you're spending actual real money on Pistons for a 5.3L block just get the damn thing punched out to a 5.7L right? The Pistons cost the same for a few bucks more you could have a lot more cubic inches, that is more fun in my book

What year engine? 2010 to 2014 5.3 have valve reliefs if you plan to push things later (shave heads and higher lift cam). Mahle 2243887 or Sealed Power H1508CPA are $350 add rings of your choice $45 to $80. Find some take outs with rods for cheap.
