There's paint for that...

Are you saying that you cannot take a 5.3 block and build an iron LS1 and put it in an F-body car in California?

As far as I know, unless things have changed legally about putting truck blocks in a car, it is illegal, CARB wise. I myself see nothing wrong with doing that.

ya bru, unfortunately it was spun rod bearing... I originally forgot to cut the oil filter open but basically at the bottom of the oil pan there was oil with tiny metal flakes in it and I knew it was time for a rebuild :/
I just got the shortblock back so hopefully I'll have it running within a month but damn its been a journey. I hope its just your lifters for your sake...
