Default Anyone using Morel 7717 Lifters? Preload?

Anyone using the Morel 7717 lifters? What preload did you use? I'm using an iron block (lsx) with ls3 aluminum heads (821). I've read where people said .060, .040, .035, etc. So not sure lol

Wild guess is I'm around 45 to 50 with the iron block & aluminum heads combo...idk

The 7717’s were previously the 6504’s. Not exactly sure why Morel changed the numbers and I won’t type heresay or rumors. The lifters have .120” of plunger travel. You’ll likely find preload info under the previous 6504 part number. Morel changed the number earlier this year if I remember right.

You are correct. I was digging for a while and found out that the pn changed because they are not polished anymore but have better internals than the 6504s....interesting.

Im thinking to go with about 40 since I have an iron block and aluminum heads...

Morel doesn't share specifics on the internals of these. We would expect the same good quality and performance from the 7717's as the 6504's.

Thanks,

What I was getting at is, if replacing a 6504 lifter with a 7717 no change in pushrod length will be required, correct?

I'd check the lash anyways just to be sure and a peace of mind

Yes, if replacing a 6504 lifter with a 7717 you would be able to use the same pushrod. Like momofx said, it's a good idea to check lash to make sure everything is good to go. That's a good engine-building practice peace of mind kind of thing.
