hey guys so when i did my swap by myself in 2021 i had never touched a ls style engine,so the header bolts are smaller than my old chevy truck with a sbc crate engine in it and i broke off a bolt and had to remove the head.i didnt know since no one was helping me that when i replaced the head gasket. size matters haha or so i guess,i saw on hotrod garage he was building a motor for boost and he said something about head gasket size and since then ive seen it around online so back when i did my swap heres what i did and didnt know anything until here lately and started wondering i bought a felpro, heres the part # fel-26192pt
and it shows on summits web site the bore is 4.100 in.
the compressed thickness is 0.048 in.
the ac delco gasket on oreillys is and im not sure if thats what is on the engine stock.
the bore 4.110 in.
the gasket thickness doesnt say compressed is 0.072 in.
so this is on my pass/side the felpro.will this do anything ? did i screw up guys ? or will it not be noticable i hope.those were the only two numbers i could get.

Moving thread to Internal Engine.

@plcrides - Please confirm the exact type model of engine you are working with.

So to clarify, you only changed one side headgasket, or did you replace both sides?

If he uses the .072 gasket mentioned, he will lose a ton of compression.

i had to remove the one head due to broken header bolt,so i replaced gasket on one head, the gasket i got is a felpro
fel-26192pt and the numbers of the thickness were found on summit for that one,
i dont know the exact gasket that came stock or the thickness. on summit it says the compressed thickness is 0.048 in.for the one i bought the felpro

so i looked at the head gasket on oreillys a ac delco assuming thats what came with the engine, but im not sure, and on oreillys their ac delco gasket just gave a thickness of 0.072 but this didnt say compressed.
with my luck i probably am losing compression or something. guess i need to find compressed thickness for head gasket on 2011 L96 somehow ?
do you guys think im losing compression on the one side ? thanks for the replies

so long story short the gasket i put on one side is 0.048 compressed
i looked online and it looks like the stock gasket is 0.051
im not sure if thats compressed or not though.so am i screwed ? does anyone know if thats compressed or thickness before it goes in on a L96 6.0

I got you dude. (you edited, you sneaky.....)

GM Head Gasket Part Number 12610046 fits most 2007 and later GEN4 6.0L and 6.2L LS engines.

This part number is the stock replacement head gasket for 6.2L LS3, L92, L99, L94, and L9H engines. It is also the factory replacement head gasket for these 6.0L engines - L76, L96, L77, LC8, and LY6.

The compressed thickness of this gasket is approximately 0.051" and it a multi-layer steel design.

Your looking at compressed numbers. Are you screwed? No. How long have you been running it like this, or have you ran it at all?

oh man well thats good news, kinda lol.thanks guys for all the speedy replies.and Mavn im just north of houston in montgomery,i grew up on the north side of houston.thats funny out of the whole country.to be honest im not really happy with the way it runs.but i hate the thought of having to tear it all back down to a bare block.i guess i will start looking at heads and see what kind of difference they would make.thanks again i have the ls3 style low profile intake so i would want something to work with that.
