Exhaust leak. As it slows in the end you can hear gasses escaping.

I can hear it when hot gases escape from my butt...
The motor however, I'd suspect a bent connecting rod. It's too fast to be top end. Exhaust ticks tend to be at half speed, like lifter ticks. Although, as CamaroSSTX said, I'd check externally for something rattling against the serpentine belt or a pulley.
