Body tech / caveman need spinny thing help
So I'm doing an LS swap on my 94 caprice wagon.
I've got my hands on a 6.0 LQ4 with 160k on it. Ran strong and had goof oil pressure before pulling.
I'm already $1200 into it and looking for cheap power.
I know these heads flow well, and I'm looking for maybe a mild cam, and some other good maintenance decisions while I've got it on a stand.
Oh LS gurus of dirty fingernails and white sneakers, please bestow your oily spinny thing knowledge upon my big fn hammer, caveman body tech brain.
I'm basically looking to make 400hp. Cheap. Easy. Reliable. Streetable.
My plan is a cam of whatever.. maybe rockers or trunion supports with stock rockers. Springs if needed.
What else needs to be on my radar for prudent decisions?

Don't waste money on trunion "upgrades" if you want something to last a long time on the street. Stick with the stock rockers.
I'd grab a set of 243/ 799 heads, then stick a truck cam in the 214-224 degree range (at .050"). Also, change the springs and seals.
Don't forget headers and good exhaust.*
Tune the PCM to match, make sure the fuel system can keep up (you are upgrading your fuel pump, right?) and BAM, there's your 400 hp (at the crank).
*Are the Caprice wagons like to Crown Vic wagons, where they all came with dual exhaust from the factory?
Either way, good for you building a wagon.

I think Summit's Ghost Cam would be good for you. You'll have to replace the valve springs to run it, but it might be a good idea to replace those while you're in there anyways.
