When the real ls7 lifters come bundled together in a plastic bag with a twist tie… it’s kinda hard to tell anymore if you’re getting genuine or ****.
For a few bucks more you can get the 7717 morels that are a step up in quality/performance and not risk getting slipped some china specials.
summit and others also sell them under their own relabeled brand.

BTW......According to Tony Mamo, Johnson has discontinued the 2110 drop in lifters. Johnson told him reason was too many people were buying them, when they should've upgraded to a race lifter. Apparently, there were more failures than they found acceptable, and found the failures occured when guys were using them in applications that should've been running a race lifter. FWIW.....
Wow, so the customer misuses a product and the manufacturer quits making them in order to keep that from happening? I'm scratching my head over that one.

you can't fix stupid or people on the internet. I can actually understand why they did it. You are going to have all of these YouTube experts talking about all the failures. When the manufacturer says the lifters weren't designed for that application and the customer should have bought the more expensive lifter, the manufacturer is going to bashed and blamed. So yeah, I can see why they did it.

However with how much they cost, why not just upgrade to the 2116 with link bars?

I have an older set of Genuine LS7 lifters in the 383 in my van. I do not like them at all. They are louder than the Rhoads V-Max I pulled out of the engine because they were loud. I have adjusted the LS7s a couple of times with 2 different pre-load amounts and they are still loud. On Lloyd Elliots suggestion, I have a set of Lunati lifters to swap into it. I did a running adjustment, had it all quiet, blipped the throttle and they were making noise again.

The 2110R is the Race Version of the lifter. They were both short travel lifters.
The difference is the R has axle oiling and the non R variant did not.
The reason they were Discontinued is because Johnson has to stock X amount of every lifter type. By reducing the amount of part numbers stocked, it speeds up production times. I wouldn't be surprised if using the wrong product wasn't a part of it. How ever here is there official post on the topic.

Now I am confused. The facebook post says the 2110 was used because GM mandated a .200" travel lifter. The 2110R has .050" less travel. So, if one has .200" piston travel, and the other .150", how are either considered "short travel" lifters?
