When the real ls7 lifters come bundled together in a plastic bag with a twist tie… it’s kinda hard to tell anymore if you’re getting genuine or ****.

For a few bucks more you can get the 7717 morels that are a step up in quality/performance and not risk getting slipped some china specials.

summit and others also sell them under their own relabeled brand.

So, the Summit Brand are indeed Morel lifters?
What's the difference between Delphi, GM/AC Delco?

I believe it's all the same, unless there is a slight parts grade difference.

Not all of them, it will say in the product description whether they are Morel.
Summit sells 2 or 3 different LS7-type lifters.
If you're not sure, call them. They'll give you the straight skinny.

The LS7 lifters suck no matter who makes 'em. I forget what the correct answer is there.

I dont like the way they come in a big ziploc bag of 16, from Summit AND Jegs both. HOWEVER......I have run a set of LS7 lifters in my built LS7, PAC duals, 165lbs seat, 425 open, for almost 50,000 miles, and never had any problems.....yet. As always, YMMV......

From what I've seen here and elsewhere, the OEM LS7 lifter is a very good STOCK-type lifter.
It was never intended to be anything else,
Millions on the road in stock Gen IV engines (including LS7's...) says they are good.
For most performance apps below about 7K RPM they seem to work well.
Above that, and aftermarket is usually called for.
But to say they suck is far from accurate. Within their design parameters, they work.

And you bought them when? Because that's a big piece of the puzzle here too.

OP, I was at where you're at early on in 2020. Couldn't get a solid answer on a good place to order the lifters, as I had a hard time trusting that I wasn't going to get chinesium from ANY of the vendors I checked, and my local dealership had a hard time getting them in a timely manor due to Covid, so I just went with Johnson 2110s. I've been extremely happy with them, although they do cost a bit more.

Unless GM is sourcing them from somewhere else, I'd assume all the LS7 lifters are Chinesium. They might be good or might be suspect. You'll find out if one fails.

I used BTR Delphi LS7 lifters with GM lifter trays, for about 3 years now and buzz the engine to 6300 rpm almost every time I take the car out.

Yes they are in a ziploc oil bag but I don't care.

Here's a good video on BTR's website, the man himself tells you about the good and knockoff lifters differences. Scroll down on the link.

BTW......According to Tony Mamo, Johnson has discontinued the 2110 drop in lifters. Johnson told him reason was too many people were buying them, when they should've upgraded to a race lifter. Apparently, there were more failures than they found acceptable, and found the failures occured when guys were using them in applications that should've been running a race lifter. FWIW.....

Because Covid killed the several of the major oe lifter manufacturers and or the foundries that made them.

So it’s a crapshoot who the replacement is.

This right here Grinder. I think even Johnson had a fire at their foundry and of late has been out sourcing materials but that's worth verifying. Suffice it to say when I put my cam in in the near (?) future I'll be keeping the lifters from 2004 in there. I do want to switch over to Johnsons down the road when the heads come off though.
