Default Mast Motorsports LS Camshafts

I was interested to know if anyone here has any experience with MAST Motorsports cams? They obviously are known for their heads, but Ive not seen their LS cams mentioned anywhere before. I'm looking at this cam below for a different 5.7 LS1 project, as it's the exact spec I would choose, but I'm more interested in what the lobes are like, quality etc. Won't be run with MAST heads of course, they wouldn't be appropriate for a cam this small. Probably CNC ported 241 again.

I played around with Mast VVT cams several years ago. Great quality. Anything Mast is typically top shelf stuff.

That LOOKS like a decent street cam that should have decent low end with some lope coming from the low LSA and -4 overlap at .050.

Thanks for the response. Good info. I assumed being MAST and since Summit were selling these cams, quality should be good. It could be made for MAST by one of the other Cam companies of course.

Do you have an opinion on the lobe tech? I'm thinking how the MAST cams compares to other cam vendors such as TSP and Cam Motion for smoothness and is it quiet like those cams, or noisy like a Comp with its fast ramp rates.

Yes, in my experience the spec is bang on for a heavy street cam with ported heads and all the other add ons. I was surprised when I saw a shelf cam with this exact spec when browsing the Summit website. The goal for this car is to try and achieve the same performance results as my car. This cam may add a touch more than I have, if the cam itself is good. Basic spec doesn't always tell the full story.

That is a tiny camshaft... 20 years ago 228/228 for an LS1 was even considered mild... but would have great mid range and top end... beyond that duration and the powerband starts to move up higher in the RPMs. I had a 233/239 .600" 112LSA cam in an LS1 with AFR205's, LS6 intake and long tubes and it was pretty dead below 4000rpm....but from around 4000 to 7200rpm it was a maniac with a T56/3.90 gears and 24.8" tall tire (285/30/18).

That's ok, I'm not worried about the camshaft spec / size, I've experience there. I'm interested in Mast Motorsports camshaft feedback specifically, because I haven't found anyone using this brand camshaft. I prefer shelf camshafts, so very interested in this, as the spec released by Mast is exactly what I was looking for to use in this project.

As far as lobe technology goes, I’d contact Mast direct for that question. I’m fairly certain that Mast develops all their own cam profiles, or at least I know with their previous VVT stuff, they did it all in house.
