Default Bent Valve, 3 heads to make 2?

I bought a set of 799's and one head came in with bent exhaust (?) valves in 2 holes. I could see light thru the exaust port kind of bent.
The other head was in way better shape but I poured mineral sprits in the CC and found one hole has a leaking at the intake valve so I assume it's gonna be bent as well.

The seller is ready to help and knows about the first head but not the second due to me needing some time to test the second. They will ship a head on Monday and I'd guess they would send a second head without a problem but I was thinking about helping out and having them ship 1 head.

I had planned to replace seals and springs, plus lap in the valves on the heads anyway so can I pull the good valves from the bad heads to replace the bent valves? Hoping if I do this they would let me keep the extra head, always nice to have a core!

Yes you can. Lap them in, which you were doing anyway. After springs are back on, use a straight edge and set it across the tops of the valve tips to see if the heights are all the same. Use a feeler gauge if needed under the straight edge to see where you stand, on the valve heights.

Thanks, I’ve refurb’d heads before but never mixed valves between heads or holes. I THOUGHT lapping them in was enough but never tested it.

I’ll let the seller know and go from here.

Thanks again.

huh... I just read I can even swap intake/exhaust valves with a 317 head as well. I have a few of them laying around, some in great shape.

FYI:
Seller shipped a head today and is cool with me keeping the core. They will send another if needed as well but assured me these were tested before shipped.

Minute particles on the seat will do that.
Assuming bent is a SWAG without checking.

Yep, just a guess at this point. I’ll be pulling these apart today and will know more later.

When you remove the bent valve it often breaks the top of the guide off. So the guide(s) may also require replacement.
Don't ask how I know.

I’ve seen a lot of bent valves in my time, but I’ve never seen one break the top of the guide off. That’s interesting.

unintended consequences in action?
The tapered drift pin and the 2#'r was the culprit!

Right, I can see it cracking the runner side of the guide at the tip.
