Default LQ9 Blown Piston Ring

So, I bought a 2001 Corvette over two years ago with a blown piston ring in cylinder #7. Took the engine out and swapped it with a remand 6.0 LQ9 from ATK, got it tuned and the car ran great for about 4,000 miles. I'm now in the same boat I was in previously, Im not sure would have caused the issue to happen twice in such a short amount of time. ECM issue going lean? Over heating around just that cylinder? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it helps the heads are 243s that came with the car took them to a machine shop had great valves and seats done and to make sure they were in good shape.

How do you know it's a blown piston ring in the same cylinder again?

Just had a compression and leak down test done which confirmed it. I had a feeling it was missing slightly and looked to see if it had blow by, which it did. So off to the shop for a test it went.

Haven't done anything with the car yet it's been sitting. Debating wether to take the motor out again or sell it. If I do go for another rebuild it won't be for at least two years

Do you have an endoscope? Taking a look at it would be good.
Compression and leak-down could indicate far more than just a "blown ring"

Rings don't generally "blow", without something else being SERIOUSLY fornicated.

I second the endoscope suggestion. You can pick those up for like $15, plus maybe an app for your phone or tablet. Unbelievably useful tool. As useful, and as cheeeep, as an infrared thermometer.

My Lq9 likely had same issue, they scoped it at the shop and found the oil in 5 and 7. From what i have learned it is common for 7 and then 5 to be the ones that pop.
