Default Radiator Fan

I will be running this radiator from superior radiator, came with fan, Should the fan be replaced? Some people claim that it's no good.
Whats a good fan to run without braking the bank?

I don't know the radiator dimensions, but try to find an OEM fan at the junkyard with roughly the same dimensions.
Factory fans are nearly bulletproof and usually pull much more air than any aftermarket fan.

The fan is 16" and shroud is 18".
How much cfm the fan should be. I can probably find a fan with same dimensions at the yard, but won't know how much air it will push.

Look at the engine it had to cool. The more HP made, the bigger the heat rejection load.
Worry less about CFM and more about the job it's been doing.

At the junkyard, I came across this fan out of 09 mustang, looks like it will fit if I trim the shroud, but not sure if I could make the connector work. It has the black and red wires that go into a plug with a small spring. Can I just cut it and just use the red and black wires?

That piece I described above looks like a heat sensor as it was really close to the radiator. I should be able to cut it and just use the red and black wires. The motor it was cooling seem to be same size as the ls 5.3, so hope it will be enough, that's if it even fit in my setup. Image of the mustang block below.

That's a V6. Fan should work, though.

the thingie with the gray connector and green wires is probably a resistor for slowing the fan down.

I found another fan out of a 2003 Lincoln LS V8 3.9L, end up buying both for $60.
Not sure if the Lincoln v8 fan will be better to run. It has 4 wires, power and ground, and 2 other small wires.

I was looking at those, most are at 4"+ depth, and space is limited on my setup. This ls 5.3 is in a jeep tj unlimited.

I didn't want to recommend these fans until I actually installed and used them but now since I have, I recommend trying these. Super thin and downright impressive. And one of the best things is they are under $200. The amount of air the move and the force they have is crazy. They move air through a radiator like it isn't there.

There was a first run of these and the temp safety cutoff was at 185 by mistake. They recalled those and sent out replacements. You may have a wait for them right now but should be able to get them within the next month. if anyone is interested i can find out for sure.
