You have too much cam and too much compression. I like it! I'm in Commiefornia so I only have too much cylinder head

funny, over the past couple of months I have really been drawn to the truck norris type of cam for my 04 gto. Would gain power pretty much everywhere. Maybe a very slight loss down low.

Also am considering the new chopacabra cams. 6.0 chopa is 220/228, 108+2. 6.2 chopa is 216/230, 108+2. Ported heads down the line might warrant a big intake/exhaust split. 220 is as big as ill go on the intake I think. Summit 8720 is still a consideration but the torque curves of the tight lsa cams are pretty awesome.

6.0 chopa will lose some down low and gain up top but could be a nice balance. I'll settle on a cam eventually lol.

only cam in the top 5 I’d even be interested is the OP Mustang. Anybody know who that is?
The winning lobes are not aggressive at all. Cam Motion's standard LS hydraulic roller lobes.

I see a lot of people running the choppy idle, torque oriented cams like the Chopa and Truck Norris type cams. Many of these people are using them in applications where they may not be the best choice. For example, they have a 3000+ stall and good gears, yet still run these smaller cams. Here is a comparison of 4 cams and here is their specs:
Lil Lope - 216/224 - 108+3 .553"
Little Chopper - 222/232 - 108+3 .595"
HotRod - 227/237 - 111+4 .595"
Junkyard Dog - 232/244 - 111+4 .621"

This little cams really shine below 4000 RPM at WOT. At part throttle and driving around, the response will probably feel peppy in the little cams. But, above 4000 at WOT, the bigger cams take over.

that's an awesome chart. Did you put that together, or where did you get it from?

I have a manual, which is a big part of the reason I was thinking of using a cam along the lines of the little lope. That cam along with truck norris, chopacabra, and big torkinator all perform very similarly.

If I had an auto, I could use a 3000 or 3500 stall and a bigger cam. I have my gtos stock 3.46 gears and don't plan on upgrading them unless I blew the rear. This is a street car and I love my stock cams low end torque and street manners so I think the smaller cams make sense. With the chopacabra 6.0 or little chopper, I would be exchanging 15lbft of torque down low for 15hp up top, but I would be adding 6 degrees of overlap to wind up at an overlap of 8 for the 6.0 chopa or 11 for the chopper. There is the 6.2 chopa with the same lift and lsa but 216/230. Might be good for ported heads but I don't think that duration is needed for standard 241 heads. That comes in at 7 overlap.

These are dyno graphs are from when I was doing some cam testing for Cam Motion several years back. Bobby, the winner of the camshaft contest, and Dr Tune Em' All helped with the testing.

Guys I wanted to do some more overlap But in the end I didn't want to mess with the double springs or the issues I deal with with the higher lift that was holding me back, that and getting the nut behind the wheel tight So the other stuff I was looking at earlier was a no-go. There's a new low lift version of the pro LS stage 4 just came out 8735r1 I went ahead and ordered that so I wouldn't have to hassle with changing a bunch of other stuff. Just a simple cam stab and then retune it again. Good to go, looking forward to more power in the upper ranges For sure

Hopefully with long tube headers to match.

we'll get there! The Walker quiet flow is gone, I've been meaning to write a summit product review For fun about that one, I burned it up at an event a few weeks ago when the heat index got over 100°, The muffler got so hot It caused the car to overheat and I had to cut my day short But it was still a really good day, depending on who's there now I'm only 3 to 4 seconds off the fastest laps of the day.

I had a knockoff magnaflow style cat back lying around, The muffler on it looks really good, better than the actual MagnaFlow 12667 muffler I also have I think that opening inside of it is actually bigger then the MagnaFlow muffler it copied, regardless, I threw that on the car and it really helped It was so restricted. You could feel The difference in power right away, I felt it and I think it gave me confidence and I went faster and I think I'm just ready for more power. I've had pacesetter 1 and 3/4 in headers before, They didn't have the best clearance but they weren't terrible I need a bigger primary than that though and I also need ground clearance. I just need to figure it out
