Default cam swap gone bad.

hopefully this is the right section.

i have a 1970 monte carlo that i swapped a 2004 lm7 into that i pulled from a junkyard. swapped the intake and throttle body from a 2000 for drive by cable. modified factory harness from 2004 to that setup because i wanted the ev6 injectors. got a mail order tune and delete and everything ran flawless.

year later won a truck norris stage 2 cam in a raffle with accompanying springs and lifters. had the same guy do another mail order tune for that setup with a plan to go get an actual tune after it was fired up.

did the swap, used dowel rods and did not change the oil pump. starts after a couple tries every time. fuel pressure good, oil on my dakota gauge says 50psi at idle. However, number 7 header is cold, and when i pulled the valve cover it is getting a very small amount of oil (like scary small) for about 2 minutes and then it gets slightly better but not enough for me.

i pulled the rocker/spring/lifter assembly and everything looks good. injector is working and there was a couple times through trial and error where #7 did heat up but now it wont seem to replicate that. my problem is i dont want to run the car to diagnose and im confident that i didn't knick that oring on the oil pickup tube.

so im stuck, is it my junkyard mouse chewed wiring harness? did i gack something up when i slipped the cam in? is it my mail order tune? i guess im avoiding pulling the motor back apart and i dont want to just throw parts at it.

hoping someone here has had a similar experience or help in diagnosing with the wealth of knowledge that is available.

i really appreciate anyone who reads this far and offers any advice.

thank you

If you have 50lbs oil pressure, your O-ring sounds fine. Sounds like the lifter isn't passing enough oil to properly lube the rocker. That doesnt mean it isnt opening the valve at all. Your exhaust should still be hot. But I think you have 2 separate issues here. If your valvetrain isnt clicking and clacking severely, my guess is that if you have a mouse damaged harness, and that's where the big problem lies. I HATE MICE, HATE, HATE, HATE!!!!!!!

What does the spark plug on that cylinder look like, compared to the hole next door?

Exactly, check the Plug then start checking wiring since that is a possible issue already known.

There's no such thing as a Truck Norris Stage 2. BTR has a Truck Stage 2 and a Truck Norris. Are you sure the camshaft kit you won is legit? Not trying to be funny... there's a lot of knock off cam kits these days, and they're garbage.

Check the spark plug wire going to #7. It might have fallen off the plug or the coil. Mine did this recently. That #7 plug is a ***** to reach in a car. I finally bought some super-long (about 2ft) needle-nose pliers just to reach the #7 plug/wire.

If that cylinder is getting intermittently warm, then I would lean towards a boogered harness.
