Damage to lifter body

Default Damage to lifter body

While checking for rocker wipe pattern, I turned the engine over by hand when the pushrod checker wasn't properly in the lifter cup. It carved a little indentation to the lifter body.

It still moves smoothly in the bore.

Should I get a new pair or just run it?(they're Johnson 2116LSR, if that matters)

Your not supposed to turn a motor over with a pushrod length checker anyway.

As long as there is not a high spot on the body, it should be ok.

It may or may not have tiny high spot, can't really tell without a micrometer.

Filing the area is probably not a good idea?

You could file down if there is a high spot.

That lifter body is harder than the block, by a good amount. What does the block look like there?

The block looks fine.

There was tiny high spot on the lifter body. I carefully filed it down and I'm starting to feel pretty confident about using this pair.

I was also considering that the lifter wall could be squished inward, interfering with the plunger's movement, but measuring from the outside with calipers doesn't suggest so.
