i'll be starting on a 383 stroker as soon as i find a block, i've been told that the LS6 block is "better" for more power, but is it going to be a difference that i'll see over doing the same build with an LS1 block. thanks

 

the ls1 block is structurally stronger.

 

but as far as power....strength isn't an issue i would think since it's going to be an NA motor.

there is no power difference so thats why you should pick the block on strength. the ls6 block does have the better bay to bay breathing though.

 

There will be no power increase/decrease based on your decision to go with an LS1 or an LS6 block.

The LS1 block is stronger than the LS6 block, however. If you talk to a machinist who has experience with LS1's and LS6's they almost always prefer to use use LS1 blocks.

FWIW, Steve at Race Engine Development (Sponser) was telling me that the best block to re-sleeve is an LS1 block, especially if any type of nitrous/blower/supercharger is going to be used.

Well the LS6 also has oiling galley on the crank journals that the ls1 doesn't have.
I wouldn't sleeve an LS6. IMO not worth the extra cash.
Also it is much wiser to use a seasonned block instead of a "new" one.
