LQ4 Piston Weight

480 grams - LQ4 Dished Press Pin Piston (piston only)
164 grams - LQ4 Press On Wrist Pin (same as a Gen III 5.3/4.8)
36 grams - LQ4 Piston Rings - Ring Land Sizes: 1.5mm-1.5mm-3.0mm
612 grams - LQ4 Gen III Connecting Rod (same as Gen III 5.3)
40 grams - LQ4 Connecting Rod Bearings (same as a Gen III 5.3/4.8)

Kinda surprised the 4.8 rods weigh same as 5.3

Can one just slap in some flat-top LQ9 slugs and run 'em without "Re-Balance"?

Seriously- How critical is "BALANCE ?"

Balance is critical for overcoming harmonics. It’s NOT gonna blow up if you don’t balance…but it will turn more rpm if you do balance, all by itself. Harmonics hold back rpm. Harmonics are always in place, but you have the ability to move the harmful harmonics to where it’s not an issue by balancing the assembly. Balancing is a way of telling the assembly where you want the power to produce itself. Example…we PURPOSELY overbalanced our Cup engines 15 grams to increase acceleration out of the corners on our short track program. You CANNOT show or prove that on a dyno, but consistent lap times don’t lie. We could pick up an honest tenth a lap by speed balancing our test tires at testing outings. Balancing matters a lot. It puts you in control of harmonics…not putting harmonics in control of you.

Flat top Enginetech “replacement” piston standard bore 6.0 LS - Part Number P5041

498 grams piston
144 grams floating wrist pin
2 grams floating wrist pin clips
644 grams total weight

Ring Land Sizes: 1.5mm-1.5mm-3.0mm

The Enginetech replacement piston, Enginetech floating wrist pin, with the Gen IV rod will be heavier at 34 grams over the weight of the Gen III stock piston, Gen III stock rod, and Gen III stock wrist pin.

Oh why not…31lbs times 8 pissdons is 248lbs. Prolly rev slow, but once you get it moving…..
