cam swap change oil?

Default cam swap change oil?
do i need to change the oil? im putting in a new oil pump and the instructions say to lower the pan, do i need to drain the oil first? also what oil do you recommend for breakin, i use amsoil 5w30 now. thanks.

My installer put in regular conventional oil and said to run it about 200 miles, then put the Synthetic and new filter in.

I just left the oil in that was already in there, drove it around for 100-150 miles after the cam swap, then changed it out.

I would change it, drive it for a day or two (Assuming you will put about 100 miles on it) then change the oil again and you should be good to go.

When I drop my oil pan down I always drian it first, never tried to leave the oil in the pan...

yeah all the install instructions i read never say anything about draining the oil nor do they mention in the items needed that i need oil. its like $50 for an oil change with this amsoil stuff, uggh!!

After the swap we refilled it with a cheap conventional oil, ran it for a heat cycle or two, and refilled it with a good synthetic.
