What happened to my oil?

Today while cruisng to the bank I got a LOW OIL light. When I got to the bank I turned off my car and it was off for about 15 minutes. On my way home it didnt go off but I havent check the dip stick yet to see if it really is low.

I barely got back from being out of town for four months. The last time my car was driven was three months ago. I changed the oil 8 months ago but have only put approximetly 2000 miles on her since then. What gives? Where did my oil go? It didnt leak onto the floor because I would have noticed the big as$ oil stain underneath the car. Ive never had problems with oil consumtion so I dotn think that could be the reason but who knows.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah...I thought about changing the oil but I'm probably just going to add a quart if its not dirty.

Check the dipstick, see where you are at...

When my car was N/A I would burn a quart every 500 miles or so... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Now that I've gone F.I. my shortblock is starting to show signs of not wanted to stay around much longer...

If the light comes on it is usually more like two quarts low. You should never keep driving after that comes on. Get oil imediately. My friend lost her engine to low oil level. The car may be burning the oil in the cylinders through the pcv system. Check the back of the throttle blade for oil build up.

Also when your looking at the TB blade, take a flashlight and look inside the intake, if it looks all wet then most likely your PCV system is eating up some oil... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I was at about the 1/8mile mark during a pass when my oil light came on. I coasted her across the line in neutral. I checked the dipstick and I was two quarts low. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[bomb]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" />

Anyway, LS1's are pretty bad for burning oil. At least some of them are. Mine doesn't burn a drop since I've switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 from 5W30.

Well right after I posted my topic I went and checked the dipstick. I posted first since I wanted to get people's opinions while I was cehckign the oil that way when I came back there would be soem replies.

I was runing low on oil but I still dont udnerstand why. My oil pressure was of course low as well but I added a quart and everything seems normal.

Oh well I am going to go buy more oil today and then try to change it.

Oh yeah, I remember people talking bad about this new moble 1 oil. My car still has the older type since I bought a bunch at a time but I only had one last quart and its the one i used yesterday. So is this new moble 1 ol that different that the older one?
