Default Royal Purple?

Coming up on my 3rd oil change (about 2000 miles on new engine). I thought I read somewhere long ago that this is decent oil. Is that true? At almost $6 a quart I would expect some quality. Opinions

Call me crazy, but In my ta, I actually notice a difference with royal over mobil one synthetic. I had always used royal in my ta, a couple of oil changes ago, I was wondering the same thing you are, so I used mobil one instead. I did notice a performance decrease vs. the royal. Just my experience.

The newest formula of Royal Purple is better for the LS1 than Mobil 1 for two main reasons. One, it's thicker in viscosity (Mobil 1s 5w30 and 10w30 are almost 20wt oils) and two, it contains more moly in it.

I'm running Royal Purple 5w30 in my wife's car right now, and will be doing oil analysis on it to compare it to Mobil 1.

Patman- I'm running 10w30 RP, would it be worth anything to switch over to their race series next time around?? It will probably be around summer time, but still seeing track use here and there.

I seen a test of Royal Purple on the dyno, on a well treated (stock)LT1 auto. The company used RP oil, tranny, rear end and water weter fluid. They gained 7.? hp 10.? tq at the rear and spent about $100. u deside if it's worth it
