Cylinder Wall scratch
How much honing would it take to get out a cylinder wall scratch, just deep enough to hang a fingernail on? I have a 99 block and rotating assembly, but two cylinder walls have scratches that are straight up and down the wall, the length of the piston travel. I'm hoping to have just a small amount of honing done, and use the .25mm oversized rings that GM put out. Is this possible, or am I looking at new pistons too?

I have to agree. Anything big enough to hang a nail, or be aware of to the touch of most folks is bad...
Dang Peter, what are you still doing up. Isn't it past your bedtime ...

Thanks for the replys, I'm really hoping I can sqeak by with the stock pistons. Don't have the dough to replace them right now. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.
