Funny Trey hows the car running?

The chambers are 53.2 cc's
Comp ratio should be around 12.1

Have to measure deck height varience, then flycut, then figure what gasket and pray it does not knock. I believe LGM is distributing AFR's with a 59cc.
I was looking at a 62cc and cometics for a safe 11:1.

Flow numbers look good, but I'm surprised the numbers at .300" and .400" aren't stronger. I've seen Craig's 5.3L ports flow better than that at 3 and 4. As you stated though, it's his first set. Well done.

If Craig got the heads as a bare casting, then why would they flow anymore or less than any of his other LS-x based castings? It's not going to flow more just because it is a AFR casting. Were these the porters speacial head? Started life at 170cc's? I just can't quite comprehend why this head would flow so much more with such a small volume as compared to his other stuff???

They should flow more for a given cc volume because of the extra meat in the roof of the port. Being able to port a nice raised roof runner should make superior flow numbers to GM heads with limited thickness in the runner's roof.

Look at this way. If you took a SBC factory head like a Vortec and ported it then then took a World Products Iron S/R Torquer it would take a different technique to get the best out of each head even though they are both designed for the same engine.

AFR tried to improve upon the LSX series cylinder heads and the casting ARE different. The AFR have thicker decks and more material in the port in as to get the correct shape (not just larger) in order to make the most efficent port and make the most power.

Aftermarket cylinder heads and factory heads are apples and oranges. GM tries to build the build the most relaible product with the least amout of overhead, where AFR wants the most performance per dollar invested.

Later,
Bart

That's a good way of looking at things.
