Default I Have a Problem ! Please Help !

All of a sudden, my oil pressure has sky rocketed to over 100 1bs . What can be the cause of this ? I checked the oil and it seemed fine . I'm not driving it now, but do you recommend I drive it to see if it will smooth itself out ? I need help fast !

When was the last time you changed your oil filter?

I would change the filter and see if it returns to normal.

Bad sender or wiring. Unless you have a very serious blockage, 100psi is a bit out of reach of the stock pump.

Changed the sender once before, but It was because of LOW oil pressure. I guess its an either or deal huh ?

I've seen senders send erratic signals as well as low and high signals. If there is a short or the sender closed it would send a really high signal.

If you turn the key to on ( not start), does the oil pressure gauge read 0 or 100?

Its Most Likely the Sender or wiring, I doubt the stock pump will build 100, does it flucuate or stay pegged?

So you're saying that the gauge reads 80psi before you start the car, correct? Then it's definately a sender/wiring problem and you're oil pressure might be normal and safe to drive.
