Default Tips on pulling my motor

Anyone here pulled a Ls1 out from the top. I am going to do it in my garage and was wondering if you guys had any pointers or tips. How hard is it? Is it easier to pull the trans and motor together?

definately pull the motor and tranny together. Its pretty basic. Just like pulling a sbc or sbf. Just make sure everything is off the back of the heads. There are a few ground back there.

Ive had mine out 3 times threw the top. what i would say is take 15 minits and pull the hood off and the black windsheild cowl.
then strip it down to heads and block while putting all nuts and bolts into labled cup!!!! Then yank it out. it isnt bad, and with a little prybar the trany coes out very easy, just need to drop the trany first, then the belhousing then the clutch. it isnt bad at all.
I was afraid for a while, but after the first time im down to about a 5 hour tranny out and motor out!!!!! its prety easy, just be sure to lable things, it helps the reinstall later.

5 hours man that is a long time I did it the last time the whole thing trany and all is about 2 hours. I've done it faster but that was still quick to me. I know you have part of it taken apart at that point but when it is out all the bolts are accessible with an impact or anyother type of air tool and the whole thing is torn apart with in an hour or so down to the short block. My way does not have any specialty tools required just an engine hoist although you could use jacks I have before but the hoist was much easier. you can use ramps for the back wheels and it will fall apart very fast but how ever you do it. It will be ok ,but if you decide to do it from the bottom give me a call and I will guide you if you need it. I've done it too many times to count. (713)302-0737 Jeff

My car takes 5 hours to be 100% torn down to heads and a block and pan, thats with a 12 pack inbetween and cleaning everything.
I have all types of bling on my car so when i pull off parts, i wrap them up in towles ect. im sure i could do it much faster if i was on a mission, but i usualy take my time and keep it neat and clean, and no new scratches!
but 2 hours is crazy!

Well I am saying 3 with the tear down of the motor too, but I still think that is very reasonably fast and that is not rushing I have done it in a lot less time I think it was around an hour just to get the motor and trany out the bottom that was with another guy helping me that I did not have to babysit and he worked on one thing and I worked on another and before we knew it it was out. Now we just went back in with another motor and trany etc... But I when it is out it falls apart very fast.
