Default can to many choices be a bad thing...

i wasnt around the ls1 scene in its infancy when there were only a handful of cam choices but now it seems like there so many you cant take a step w/o tripping over a cam. just this list alone has 78 cams and thats not including any LG grinds or all the new cams that have come out within the last few months.

but on the other hand looking at the list and looking at what people run its only a fraction of whats available. its rare to find any info on cams like the FM 5,6,or 7, any off the shelf Crane grind, some of the bigger lunati grinds, any SLP grind, and even some of TSP's and TR's cams.

also with over 10 "224" single pattern duration cams alone i can kind of see how some people are overwhelmed. as we all know there is a minute that goes by that another "what cam should i get" thread doesnt pop up

with that said im taking what i've learned from various people here and going custom

i for one am still in the learning process of camshaft technology, forget cam design. when i first got in on the ls1 scene, i was totally lost. after reading countless posts on it, yours and others guides on it, as well as other sites, i have the basic knowledge that is required to parse the specs of a cam, to understand somewhat how it would behave, and so on. now with all of these cams out now, there are a plethora of choices and so much knowledge to assimilate its overwhelming. however it also provides countless conversations and many opportunities to learn. this is one thing that i think that having too many of is not a bad thing, for to each their own.

Wow... that list is big, but I think it can almost be doubled right now.

you can never have too many choices......it just means people have to do their homework better........with all that's out there, a cam that would have to be custom made in the past is now readily available.......that being said, i hate homework and i always get steak fajitas.....

just gotta figure out which cam is for you. of course, nothing wrong with a custom cam, but i bet your cam will end up with specs simular to a shelft grind from a vendor. this is why i just chose to go with the cam lou recomended to me and i couldn't be happier.

jrp,

with that being said, i am axiously waiting to see your results. still trying to get my graph for ya too
