piston to valve clearance with 5.3 heads, T-Rex cam???
i have TEA stage 2 5.3 truck heads with 2.02 Ferrea intake valves, and 1.55 UDI exhaust valves and the heads are milled .015. Stock rockers, valve springs that handle up to 650 lift, hardened stock length push rods. Stock bottom end 98 Ls1 with stock thickness head gaskets. Does anyone know if the T-Rex cam will work? or is it piston to valve slam city? Cam specs are
- 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa Although the T-rex cam im getting is the Verson 1 i think,,, it is probably less aggressive than the version 2? Reguardless, thanks to those who help me out!

damn, fireball posted like seconds before my last post. For flycutting, i have to remove the pistons of course, where can i send them for flycutting? pricing? I read somewhere that someone was attempting to do it themselves, i dont know how great of an idea that would be... Maybe this year il stick with my TR 224 and keep the T-rex on the shelf for next year. If im going to tear into the bottom end im going to get rods, pistons, the whole nine yards.
I see no point in reuseing old stock pistons when i have them out of the car just for flycutting...

the intake cutter won't work with the seat in the head...
gotta get a junk head and pull the seats
my pistons wouldn't reach TDC to do the cuts...which may have been a artifact of my .040 milled heads...not sure.
I cut the back side of the tool (had it machined) so it would recess back.

good thing you mentioned it, i think some tool on ebay is selling A ls1 head. yes just one head. So, if i score that, i can do both sides, both intake and exhaust with no problems so long i remove the valve seats for the intake valve???

crap. im goin to spend 100 on a junk head, then 130 each for the cutters,,, not worth it in my opinion, il just buy forged pistons w/ reliefs already in them when the time comes. Or have some shop do it to my stock pistons...
