Default Best Stroker Short Block?

Whatsup guys i just recently found out i cracked a piston and am using this as a springboard to build up my motor. i've decided to just get an aluminum short block w/ forged internals to have a solid foundation for the future, and no more cracked pistons. i know could reuse my stock block, but i really don't have the time to get the block machined and then get a rotating assembly - i'd rather just have it balanced and ready to go in when i get it.

i've seen a couple on racenet.net and keithcraftmotorsports.com all hovering in the 4-5k zone. just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas of where else i could find some or what to specifically look out for when buying one

Whatever you do, stay away from racenet.net, they are horrible with everything. they will keep your money, and promise you to have your parts out, and 5 months later you still dont have it. STAY AWAY, consider it a warning.

You can get an internally balanced Eagle 382/383 rotating assembly for about $2,200. Then all you need is a new LS1 5.7L block, rings/bearings, machining, and installation.

Check out some of the sponsors like A.P.E. and H.P.E. They both sell fully assembled short-blocks at great prices.

Thumbs up

Yes at HPE we do an Iron all forged 408 for 3899.00 and the aluminum 383 would be maybe 150.00 or so more because of the block price. Both of those prices are without cores. If you have your own core you can save even more money. We do the shortblock for whatever you are going to use it for specifically as far as clearances and ring gaps etc. It's only myself and one other guy that actually do all these blocks. We do not farm them out to anyone else so I can answer any question you have about them since I actually build them.

Erik,

i'm very interested in the aluminum 383. can i get one w/forged internals? i have my block, what would that bring the price down to? Approx how long after the order would it take to get to my door? And speaking of my door where are you located? Just wondering how much shipping to expect for a shortblock.. sorry for all the questions, i'm just getting kinda excited about this.

We have a 347 short block with only 150 miles on it! The short block will get fresh rings & bearings before it ships out! If you need info on the motor drop me a email or IM me

I just got HPEs iron block 408 (fully forged) and they got it to me pretty quick. I was on a tight time table because my SS was my only car, your best bet is to call them up and talk to them.
