Default Labor estimate....

I'm gonna have LG do a head and cam swap along with the installation of some long tube headers. Could anybody give me a rough estimate of how much this would be? I'm gonna call LG tommorow and find out for sure though. Oh one more thing, what would be a ball park price on a tune at lg as well? Thanks in advance. Btw, I just bought the G5X3, Afr 205s, and some Kooks lt's. We'll see how it goes

most header installs are 200-300, with the heads and cam, 500-600 install. I have no idea on the tune though? Good luck

LG's labor is pretty expensive...id assume 2-3g's for headers, cam, heads & tune

Must...do it yourself....
For what it is going to cost you could darn near add a supercharger too. Or at least a direct port nitrous injection kit with a new fuel pump, and all the trimmings. After watching people work on my car, I know I can do as good, or better job. The tools you need are cheap compared to installation costs. The key is just having a place to do the install.

$500 for header install + $1,200ish for H/C install + $500ish for tune = $2,200. That is my guess based on what I have paid at other shops.

And there is no such thing as a good deal. I was going to get my cam swapped in for about $600 at a place that specializes in F-body cars, but changed my mind. A friend of mine has had his car in their shop for about a year. In and out due to many problems...some theirs, some caused by parts, all crap though. There are no good deals except doing it yourself, but only if you mechanically able to do it.

I am gonna guess that the headers should be almost free if you do the H/C at the same time.
The exhaust manifolds have to come off to get the heads off, therefore tacking off the exhaust manifolds is already figured in the price of the H/C swap.
Then they have to bolt the exhaust manifolds back up, which will just be the new headers. I will guess the labor should be no more then 1200 dollars total, unless they have to change you exhaust for the headers to work.
As far as the tune, your looking at 425-500.
Total should be in the 1700 dollar range plus tax.

get a tune from TSP for 275, just tell them what you have. Headers you can install your self in a day if they still charge you for the install even though they take off the man. with it.

If you have a place to do it definately do it yourself and go with the TSP tune. You will save a lot of money doing it that way.

Only part that is realy hard with the cam head swap is the pick up tube, Dot to Dot, and with the G5X3 Notching the pistons.

you can get away with the g5x3 with unmilled heads and a 114 lsa

I could install them for you cheaper as long as you don't need the pistons notched.

200-300 for headers.
200-300 for tune.
600-800 for cam.

do not pay more than that.

if he's gettin the car dyno tuned its gonna be more then 200-300. period. try 450. thats a full dyno/street tune. g5x3's are one of lg's specialties, so you know they have that tune down to an art.

i'd install as much of it as you can on your own, or find some people around you that can help, and get LG to tune it for you. LG will be able to tune that cam better then anyone out there, as its their cam, but definitely install the parts yourself. save BIG $$$.

This would be my guess too. I had someone quote me $1400 just to install cam, push rods, and springs.

I kinda wanted to do it myself to save the money. I have the tools and ability to do it, I just dont wanna **** anything up when I do it. I just afraid I'll be stuck with a broke down car if I get stuck on somethin or lets say a bolt head breaks off. What do you guys think?

where are you at? i'm sure there are guys that could help you if you needed it. if you don't rush or force anything, and go about the whole install in a sane fashion, it should be alright. remember, to err is human. to really **** up requires a computer.
