First, go buy a new set. You WILL bugger at least one removing them (go ahead, ask me how I know). And you remove them by grabbing them with a pair of pliers & twisting & pulling. They come off, but you will squish them. And I forget, what year is your car? 01 & 02s have 1-piece seats & seals (most of them anyway).

Yep, MOST of the 01's have 1 piece seats & seals... but that is not a hard and fast rule, as some of the '01s have 2 piece seats & seals. Ask ME how I know that...
And as was said above, definitely get new seals if you're pulling the old ones off... you don't want to put the old ones on after twisting and yanking on them.

Thanks, guys. I shoulda just posted in the NW forum
I have a new GM set - they came with my valve spring kit.
I would have preferred not to f these up, but oh well. Gotta get the new seats in because my dual springs will not fit with these Comps single-spring seats.
The car's an 00, but these heads are ported 5.3s with what look like brand new seals on them.
