I know this thread has gone to hell and all, but it's pretty closely related to my question earlier this year.

Why does my little jap 1.0 liter bike motor spin to 12,000 and make 150hp at the crank... while my big american 6.0L V8 looks like a diesel in comparison with 345 at 6K?

My 6.0 would be making 900hp in bike-land.

The bike would be making 57hp in truck land.

It's the bore/stroke ratio...

because the rotating mass of a 1 litre engine is far less than that of a 6 litre...think of it as swinging a bat that weighs 1 pound...and another wighing 20...which can you swing faster? i know i've seen somwehere a skyline engine make like 1200hp at like 12,000 rpms or something similar to that....it may be more or less hp or less rpms...but it was a lot i know that much...i can only imagine how much money went into that engine...

Dang... I didn't consider that.

Now that you mention it, I believe the entire rotating assembly in the 1L is AL.

Wow, I checked out the official c5r racing team and they say the redline is only 6200... I figured they spun it alot higher. Does anyone know where Ronnie Duke's TA shifts at? Cause that's a destroked c5r. I figure since its the "worlds fastest ls1" that they are doing something right...

Ronnie Dukes car is a stock stroke, Big bore. No need for more cubes and C5R heads. Compression ratio is tough to achieve for boost.

C5Rs dont spin high at all. Remember they have to run for 24 hours at 6200. They have a usable powerband. If they thought that it would be beneficial to spin to 8k, Im sure they would be doing so. But alas, they are not.

I deal with road race cars every day and every aspect of my life. Run a 3.62 stock stroke, 4.130 bore motor with a 90 mil on it and put the limiter at 7500

Given that the motor makes ~ 550 at the wheels, you will not be able to fit any tire under there that will have grip. You will annialate (sp? where is that dictionary link ) Hoosiers, and I would dare say Goodyear slicks as well.

A turbo Road race car is fast, but it is also expensive on both parts, and time, and money.

If it was me I would lower your standards a little if you wanted it to be realistic. The horsepower number is not a problem. But the cash/research involved in 8k-9k is likely out of your range. If you stayed in the low-mid 7's, you could use the stock crank.. some nice forged rods, and forged pistons. You could just do a 347-348 with a really peaky cam, and the boost. If you went with a SBC, it would be alot easier. For your goals, I'm not even entirely sure that a turbo is necessary.. Futral Motorsports just hit 600 flywheel+ with a 346. Thats who I would call.

Good Luck,
Josh
