Default Did I go too big?

I am about to have a comp cam grind LS1speed 224/228 .581 114LSA cam put into my car with stock heads. I have 3:73 gears with a Yank 2800 stall converter and will be shooting a TNT 150 wet shot at the track. Is my converter too small for this cam? I am not willing to pay the extra money to go in an replace it since I really like how tight it is on the street and I can cut 1.8 on DR with it and think it is a good all-around converter. What do you think? Do I need to get another cam?

Thanks for the help

Cajun

Tune what you have and USE IT! Way to many variables to make a judgement with your post. Looks neat enough though! Should idle like a stocker too.

That cam will make more torque than the stocker at your stall speed.

You didn't go too big.

For the street, NO, you are fine.
For the track Yes, I would change to 3500>3800

Doesn't Yank offer one free restall???

I will not change the TC. Should I get a smaller cam? That is the question brothers? I think all in all the opinion is that for the street this is a good setup so that is what I want. I run 12.6@114 on 19 inch street tires now with a 1.9 60 ft. so with a 150 shot and this cam I think that low 11s are definitely attainable? Good enough for me. Thanks guys

Please get video of this, it should be a riot watching you try and keep traction when you hit the button.

19" wheels + 150 shot = Your tires saying

See this?

Your cam will make more power at every point at and above your stall speed.

Read it again.

I will not change the TC.
Then you will NOT go low 11's. You'll probably need tires and a stall for that.

A 2800 stall is too small for the stock cam for optimum performance.

I would not change the cam if it does what you want.

So I would be better off just not doing a cam swap at all? Thanks man

HAHAHAHA............Just got a new set of Iforged 19/20s so I should really have fun with those huh? LOL I have an in car camera so will try to post some vids if I can figure out how to host the damn things. LOL

Again thanks for all or the input guys! I get the feeling this cam swap may not be the best way to spend my money if my converter is not large enough to keep up with a larger than stock cam.

With your stall it doesn't make a big difference. Listen to what everyone is saying man, your converter is too tiny. Your cam is fine.

Either cam will be fine! Either one will be faster than what you ahve now and make more power at stall speed and above....

I would have went with the 224/228, but either way is gonna be better than stock....

I just went 231/237 with my auto.....hopefully it is going to work well

I like the TSP225 but the cam isn't your limiting factor in your combo. If you're sticking with the stall you're at then just pick any of the small to medium cams and enjoy.
