Adjustable Rocker question
I am considering adjustable rockers for my 408 that I just dropped in my truck about 300 miles ago. I stayed with the stock 1.7 rockers and just brought my heads over from my previous engine (TEA stg II). I want to change to an adjustable type to hopefully quiet some of the valvetrain noise and it's nearly the only thing left that is stock on the motor.
I really like the Comp pro magnums and have read good things about them on here. The only problem there, is they don't go down to a 1.7 ratio and only start at 1.75. My current cam has a .575/.576 lift and I am running Comp 921s and going to the larger ratio would increase that to a .591/.592. I know my springs can handle it, just wondering about how much more routine maintenance/possible breakage issues this will cause over keeping it at the stock ratio?
I am only shifting at 6000rpms and will never go beyond 6200. I also have waiting to go on, a GT-70 STS turbo setup - if that means anything.
What other brands would you recommend, if not the Comp Pro magnums - adjustable type? I don't want YTs and would prefer not having valve cover issues to deal with, although that wouldn't be a show-stopper.
TIA

besides the pro magnums the next best cost effective adj. rocker is the new PP rockers. they've only recently began comming out. other then that you cant go wrong with T&D or Jesel rockers if you have the budget for them.
and im almost positive just about any adj rocker setup will require valve spacers. some people have even had clearance issues with the pro magums and comps says there sposed to clear fine.

FYI, The Crane 1.7 accelerated ratios clear all 1999 and newer valve covers and most 97-98's. A few 97-98 require minor clearancing at the back end of the rocker. I have the Crane 1.8's and Crane duals with .562/.562 and they are as quiet as the stock cam/valvetrain package. I think Vinci High Performance has them on sale, but you might have trouble getting in touch with them because of hurricane Frances. Check out the Vinci website at www.vincihighperformance.com.

Jesel rockers are nice. Stock ratio. BUT I needed to add valve cover spacers and grind where the pushrods go through the head. Also grind away a small notch at the back of the rocker in the head, it was too close. On my set up I also had to gut the inside of the valve covers. """"they just bolt right on"""". LOL. They are nice and work well. It was kind of a pain but I would do it again.
