I would imagine its pretty involved to replace your rod bolts Probably the main reason I havent done it yet.

Hmm, so how much would you say it would cost to have them installed? On average?

I threw a set in when my swap engine was on a stand, so it was easy...

In the car, you have to (raise the engine / lower the k-member), and remove the oil pan.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I'm the bolt on king in my garage, but internals scare me. Heads and cam are cake, but I get freaked out with the bottom end.

My car lasted for a while with a 7K rev limiter on stock rod bolts, but at 33K miles just recently threw a rod out of the block. When you're pushing it that hard, you never know when it might go.

Dragon,

How much timing were you running? It seems like most people around here run 28 degrees. This seems odd to me, since thats the factory timing map on my '99 FRC. I'd think with higher CR, obviously much higher cylinder pressure (more power) and tighter quench you could run less timing without loosing (or maybe picking up some) power. Also, it seems like some people run a flat timing curve. In my experience, a motor likes the least timing at its torque peak (highest cyl pressure), and it falls off as it revs higher.
