Default I think I finally broke something

I was driving home a couple of minutes ago and I was in 3rd gear. Some asshat in a Camary cuts me off, so I slam on the breaks and shift into second. It only revved up to about 4-4500. But now I have a definite loud tick coming from the passenger side valvecover/head area. When I accelerate it chugs like it's only on 7 cyl. What could this be? Rod? Lifter?

Okay, I took a close look and in addition to the pushrod I think there has to be an exposed wire or something as well. There's a spark on the outside of my passenger side head and my fuel pressure gauge is now reading 0psi.

Check the plugs like I said. If you can see spark you're not connected and the cylinder isn't firing. Fuel Press? Maybe the spark shorted out the sender unit?

I'm gonna check all of that stuff in a little bit, I wanted the engine to cool down first.

It's fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turns out my last plug wire came undone and was resting against the valve cover or head. The ticking was from the arcing of the spark. Evertime a spark was conducted it would tick. That would also explain the chugging and loss of power. And the fuel pressure gauge works now. I even had a few others look at it and they couldn't believe it wasn't a rod by the sound.

Some ticking is normal. If you're unsure of everything just do what I was gonna do. Yank off the valecovers and start checking stuff.

The clicking may just be normal. LS1's are known for that. And if its a louder tick u may want to check your pushrods and chances are that its not going to be a lifter. And as far as head work all u need to worry about replacing w/a cam is springs and pushrods everything else should be good to go. Depending on the size cam u get u may wanna look into replacing the oil pump because i have a TSP 231/237 in mine and the oil pump **** out on me a few weeks later.
