ok i see that, but is it because of the lift on that cam? would a trex cam trap higher than the tsp cam??

It's not just lift, it's many factors. Yes, a TRex will trap higher than a 231/237.
I've seen a few 120+ mph, cam-only TRex threads here.

jesus..6900??? dont they say that it is bad to rev up that high for the motor? how long can your motor hold if you keep shifting close to the 7k mark? i think my cam peaks at 6600rpm so i am planning on setting the rev limiter at 6700. where you there at kelly's when they tuned your car?

Many people are revving up to 7k on stock bottom end. It may not be the best thing long term, but that's what's being done- especially with the larger cams, 'cause that's where the power is being made.
No, I wasn't there for the tune session.

Here it is. Didn't post it, 'cause the printout range isn't useful.

man ill be lucky if i put down 375-380 rwhp on monday. with a mid size cam like mine i think that 370s is more like it. i was 2 seconds away from buying that tsp 231/237 before i got the tr 224/224 cam. not i am unhappy with it, but i street race alot more so i could have benefited from a higher mph than the one i have. i could buy another cam like you did, but man i really dont want to take that whole motor apart again. jesus, that is just too much work to do all over. specially dropping another lifter. hell no, although i am still looking to buy mti stage 2 heads and thats the only way i would upgrade to a bigger cam.

Actually, for street racing from a dig, the TR224 is better. The 231/237 shines up top, but has a peaky powerband compared to the TR224.

I have the Lunati 224/224 560/560 112lsa and my cam peaks it's HP at 6300 rpm's. I also have the patriot heads but my peak hp is 400 and my peak torque is 375 ft-lbs. If I remember correctly the TR cam has a little more agressive ramp rate.

Good luck,

Al

My friend's m6 T/A has a TR224 on a 112 lsa in it. He dynoed 385 rwhp and usually traps between 112-114 on street tires, i.e. 2.1+ 60fts. He also has the usual bolt-ons: lid, ftra, GMAF (pos), LS6 intake, LT w/ cats, catback, etc. He was also running the stock 3.42 gears and full weight.

I have a TR-224 112 and on stock gears in a manual of 3.46 also with .020" off the heads ran 113.90mph. Thats in a car weighing around 3650 pounds with me in it. It peaked on the dyno at 5800 and limiter is set at 6350.

who makes the TR 224 (dumb question I know) I have an 01 TA M6 and I'm thinking about going with this cam based on what I'm hearing. I have lid, tb, catback, free mods and thats it. I want a mild streetable cam that is a notch or two above stock. Besides the cam what parts are needed. Someone give me price on the cam and everything I need to go with it please. I don't really plan on doing head work in the future.

^ Thunder Racing (Sponsor) ------>

You need valve springs (Comp 918's will be fine). Hardened pushrods highly recommended, titanium retainers would be nice, but stockers are OK.

Check out the cam swap info at ls1howto.com

That TR224/112 peaks at more like 5800 not 6600. Mine on a 114 lsa peaked at 6000 and I shifted it at 6400-6500.
