Some cam questions, my TR230 has won, I give up...
Ok, my TR230/224 cam has me beat. I'm tired of fighting with the car and tuning it over and over. I get the car running great and 2-3 weeks later, it all goes to crap and needs retuned. I'm going to go to a smaller cam for now since I'd rather drive the car over getting angry and frustrated with it.
What would be a good cam to go with over the TR230? I was thinking a Z06 cam and just put the tune back to stock, keep my headers and ORY and get a more aggressive converter like a midwest 4000 or so. That should still be very fun on the street and hit decent track numbers. Plus it should be very budget friendly. By selling my current parts, it should cost me little to switch everything over.
Secondly, could my 918 springs be used on the Z06 cam? They have about 3-5k miles of use on the TR230 and thunder recommended changing them every 10k. They should still be good to use since the Z06 is a milder cam or am I mistaken here?
My current mods are:
TR230/224 Cam/918 Springs/Titanium retainers
Yank TT2800 Converter
Lingenfelter 3.5" Driveshaft
SLP Subframe Connectors
MTI Airlid
Cutout on stock exhaust with E-Cutout Valve
Mac Midlength headers with ORY
LS1 Edit Tuning
If anyone cares to read the precursor, see here:

You might consier the OMC, as it supposedly has nearly as much area under the curve as the TR230. But, I'd look at geting your tune squared away. I can't see why you need to re-tune.
You should be able to tune it once and leave it... Is it when the weather changes that the tune gets off?

It's been tuned twice so far, after a period of time it starts running like crap and needs retuned all over. It has done this many times so far.
Edit> It goes awry after 2-3 weeks. And I'm not even driving it that often.

You should solve the problem at hand (no advice there) first. I doubt the cam is causing the tune to go out and the TR230 is not that big of cam. You could still have the same issues with ta new cam IMO...

I agree with you 100%. At this time though, I'm not at a point where I can invest the time and $ into the car to get it where it needs to be. I think I'll run a Z06 cam on the stock tune and when the go fast bug bites later, I'll go from there and do it right all at once.

Is it possible one or both the o2 sensors might need to be replaced? If they are not working right it can cause some major tuning headaches. What's the problem with the tune? Idle, cruise or wot. Idle tune has to be right on to cancel the surge and pedal start stuff.

Idle and partial throttle tunes have been giving me fits. The o2's seem to be ok and everything works on the car fine. Just after 2 weeks or so, it starts running poorly again, surging, hard starts and so on.

If you are tired of messing with it, try a smaller reverse split.
224/220 114 115 would be slightly more agressive than MTI's stealth II. It will reduce your overlap significantly and be much easier to tune. You could even do 226/222 114 115. That would make a little bit more power up top.

Thanks for the tips guys!
Any tips on tuning it open loop? I'm not a very good tuner and I'm just making small changes to what was done previously.
