What are the specs on the older(non gold) Patriot springs? Pressure? Max lift? Coil bind?

He was running a pretty small cam(relatively)....

How do you know when you've broke a valve spring? I got a wierd ticking noise coming from the top half. As the RPMs rise and car warms up the noise gets louder and faster. I don't notice a drop in oil pressure. Car seems to idle ok.

this is what the PP golds look like, there off my heads (non PP). i've used Rev and manley, and have seen 918's and lunati springs and these are bar none the best i've seen.

For what its worth I am running the golds to 7k rpm with and install height of
1.740"!!
With the cam lift it puts it just past the .650" max lift recommended.
1000 miles, a few track days, hand full of missed shifts and no spring issues.
Based on past experience these are truely top notch.

This is not the first PP gold to break.......... I run them myself with a 230/236 .598/.608 cam and my buddy who broke 3 of them broke them with his TSP 231/237 cam.........

Snake Eater had the non-gold patriot springs, and you're friend Nakoz with the 231/237 cam who broke 4 of them (not 3) was using the factory valve spring seats when he should have used the valve spring seats that come with the patriot kit.

We all been through this before.

Here's the threads.

There have been ZERO cases of Patriot Golds breaking!

At one time or on separate occasions?

Seems weird to me, if at one time, that would be a definite indication of bad install tolerences.
