i can't speak from the importance of quentch relating to ls1's
however, on 5.0's it is one of those black magic things that work
for people that have a clue. on 5.0's you help quentch either by decking the block to zero deck or slightly out of hole or by off set grinding the crank for the same thing..or both..
yes, you are increasing compression but it's more than that. gives you more tq & hp than the comp increase alone along with the knock resistance..
this isn't vodoo, it does make a difference!
