Default Removing crank pulley

Ok, this is really frustrating, we tried using a 4 foot breaker bar on a 1/2" drive socket on the crank bolt and it was spinning the motor, while the motor was in gear. We are pretty sure the clutch is slipping, any suggestions?

i just pinned my crank a few weeks ago...make sure you use a 24mm socket.(not a 24mm drill bit to make a hole for the pin...)if you have it on a lift it will make it easier to get to things but i recommend putting the back tires on the ground. just so u know...your clutch isn't slipping. the bolt will come off before the clutch slips. be a man and pull the damn ratchet with a nice breaker bar and it will come off. i actually used an impact wrench. i got a compressor that i push over 600psi and i actually rigged up a breaker bar on the impact b/c my brother broke his wrist trying to free hand it. if you can't get it off one way, be creative and get a little crazy with it. keeps things interesting and makes for a good story anyways. let me know how it goes.

dude, get this... we used a 4 foot breaker bar and it traveled about 90 degrees or so from one side of the engine bay to the other, and the crack spun the whooooooole way... we couldnt believe it

Been there, had the same problem-bar was pulled from one side of the car to the other with the crank turning the entire 90*...I had to use an impact wrench. I spent about 2hrs going at it with a 4ft breaker bar, and it took about 3 seconds to pull it with the impact wrench. Do yourself a favor and either invest in an impact wrench and compressor yourself, of find someone that has a gun and a compressor.

Dude Ingersoll Rand "titanium" 1/2" impact 1000 ft/lbs of torque, could use the large size snap on chain wrench with a cheater bar and a breaker bar with a cheater bar two people no problem.

Snap On and Matco both have a tool that you attach an air chisel to, it attaches to a 1/2" anvil you put the 24mm socket on. You impact on the left side you loosen the bolt right side impacting you tighten the bolt, during that time you hold the pulley with a chain wrench.

Funny how these tolerances are different. I have an '02 as well but my bolt came off with comparative ease. I had about 35-45 degrees of travel before she finally gave way (had it in 4th as well). I'm not saying I didn't pop a few veins ...

You could also try heating it up a little. That might help loosen up the locktite.

If you didn't, try putting on the emergency brake too.

I used an electric impact gun from Sears. The other thing I've read is to put the bar against the ground and tap the starter ( by hitting the key ). This apparently loosens it no problem.
