tapping / ticking after broken spring

tapping / ticking after broken spring ,,,,i just replaced a broken spring today and now i have a tapping/ticking sound. wasnt there befor the spring broke/or while it broke and was running, the car idles smooth still and no apearnt loss of power but i know somthing is is wrong. its louder/deeper than the tapping of a loose rocker..its only there at idle and low rpm and goes away under load(above 1800 rpm). im stumped....maybe pushrod?bent valve?....i dont know what a bent PR or valve sound like ....... <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Re: tapping / ticking after broken spring Bent pushrod I would check all the Pushrods but it is prolly the same one as the broken spring. A bent valves would backfire and loose power. BTW what kind of springs are you running did you replace all of them?

Re: tapping / ticking after broken spring ya 941s and thats what saved me(the inner dampner) ill check the push rod, wouldnt a bent valve cuz more problems than just a tickin/tapping sound? im not even hearing a miss

the bent PRs were on the opposit side of the motor from the broken spring. so, new spring and PRs AND STIL HAVE A FREAKING TAPPING!!!!!! im thinking bent valve but other than the sound i have no other symptoms of a bent valve. im stumpped!!!!!!!!!!!!! <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Re: tapping / ticking after broken spring chances are its a bent valve take off the rockers on the cylinder that had the broken spring and do a leak down test Ive seen the very same thing on several customer cars.Are you sure youi only had 1 broken spring?is it possible you over looked another one and thats where the sound is coming from do a leak down and that will show you your problem
