You will need a cam, push rods, and valve springs. There are a lot of good headers out there. Pacesetter has the least expensive. They use to have fitment issues but I think they are better now. Thunder Racing or Texas Speed and Performance will be able to hook you up with a cam and all of the goodies. Look to the right side of the screen and pick a sponser. Most of them will be able to help you. Good luck.
It sounds like good power to me, but (from experience) SLP is a bit on the pricey side. I'm sure if you called Racetech or Futral or one of the other sponsors over here ---> you can find a better deal. H/C is a big investment, shop around a bit.
And I'm with 98 LS1 SS on the legality thing...

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time

Being a newbie and all, you're going to be better off calling up a shop and getting it all at once instead of trying to peice something together. You'll know it all works together, and you'll probably get a better deal anyhow. Just make sure you do plenty of research before you go swapping cams, so you know what you're getting yourself into. jrp has a great cam guide out, i suggest you read it.
