Default arp studs

so according to the directions im suppose to lube up all the studs and nuts with the moly lube. so i moly up the whole stud then screw it in the bolt hole in the block. now do i have to put the head on right away or can i wait to put the head on. or do i only moly lube up the part of the stud that goes in the block ,then do the other half of the stud when the heads go on?

The moly lube doesnt dry up or anything so you can wait between install time. Just mainly lube all contact point of the threads and washers.

pdd,

Put the moly lube on the top threads, not the threads that go into the block. Also, apply some to the nut and washer faces... I just did mine....

Actually I would think you would want the lube on the half that goes in the block to prevent any seizing and also a correct torque reading, even though it is only like 5-10 ft. lbs. When you get ready to install the heads, then put the lube on the upper portion.

Nope.

According to the instructions from ARP you put nothing on the part of the stud that goes into the block, OR as an option you can use lock-tite on the lower threads to make it more permanent... Straight off the instruction sheet that ships with them....

I knew it was, just hoping you had a file from before you took it apart


I used WD40 and Scotch Brite green pads. The WD40 "dissolves" the old gaskets and you don't have to bare down so hard with the Scotch Brite pad.... I then cleaned up the residue with hot water and a clean towel...

make sure you do the final torque pass over again after they sit for 15 minutes...I bet you will get another 1/4 turn!! Need to to it a couple times.
