Default Wanting to build a 400ci ls1, ideas?

I'm in the process of getting a block and already have a set of 5.3 heads. I want to run a 11 to 1 compression ratio. What kind of bore/stroke combo would i need to go 400ci, or 6.4liters. Also is paying an extra $1200 worth it to get the Lunati crank versus the Eagle? Or what about the Callies crank? I want to run Oliver Billet Rods and JE Pistons, but also i'm not sure if the $1300 for the Oliver Rods are worth it. Any ideas/suggestions/combos would be appreciated.

4" bore + 4" stroke = 400 (talking about square ratio)

Jegs sells complete balanced Eagle kit part # 356-b12822+030 for $2279.99 + 8.99 handling charge. This is a speciel order. But they do have the 383 ( 3.905 bore+ 4" stroke) kit in stock part # 356-b12804. Same price.

To keep compression under 11to1 in 408 I would use Patriot LQ9 castings $1400.00 or big chamber AFR 225 $2400.00

I believe the 414CI is the best rod ratio/piston speed combo but I could be wrong.

If I was to build a motor now it would be a LS2 with a 4 inch eagle rotating assembly. I bet money that this will be the next big thing.

Yeah but i don't have the xtra money to sink into a ls2 block, and that doesn't count all the other stuff that'll be needed. I guess i'll just be old school and go with the ls1

That is what I have heard as well.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Lunati crank..if you have the money...it would be a good invesment!

so was it 414 or 422?

I talked to few guys that build race engines...
414CI was optimal.

I dont wanna Darton (JMHO) so if I did build a stroker it would be a C5R case.I'm going to find out the optimal rod/stroke to build an engine w/o going bigger than 3.905...

I think its gonna be around 365 to 375 CI.This way I dont have to worry about coolant problem, sleeves issues or anything else for that matter.U might think I'm nuts to build something this small but I believe I can make real good power w/the right combo, one things for sure my Head/Intake/Cr/Rod Length/Stroke/P.Speed will all be matched accordingly.

Now someone give me 4K to build a shortblock
