Default how to fix collapesed lifters

Is there a way to fix these without pulling the heads off or tell if they are collapsed? They sat for a while without being ran for like 3-4 months. could this noise i hear coming from my engine be the lifters very loud sounds like a diesel just changed the cam in it. with a .591/.569 230/226 on a 112. could my lifters not be working right? How would i make them come uncollapesed without buying new ones and tearing the engine back down.

If you torqued the rockers properly (22lbs/ft) and install is proper, all should be fine.

How long did you run it after start up? It will sound real loud for a few minutes and then should quiet down after that.
Also you'll need a tune, only then can you really determine. Also are all your cylinders getting spark? did you hook up all the coils correctly?.

all coils are firing. it isnt missing runs good. but makes all kinds of rachet sounds like a diesel on crack. it ran for every bit of 30 minutes and never got quite when the idle goes up it gets louder but no misses or anythin like that. but people said it sounds like the lifters collapsed but they did fine until it sat in my garage and then we put the cam in. started and blame sounds like **** coming from the top part of the motor.

Pull the vavle covers and make sure your rockers are down. **** that 22lbs/ft bs crap. That has never worked and never will. Get your wrench out and tighten them up. You can feel the rocker seat in the tray. Might feel a little tight but you have to fight the spring to get them down. Now if you can spin the push rods you have a bad lifter. Time to pull the heads if this is the case.

I would like you to do the same with a high duration cam, just to see how it goes, that should be some good entertainment.
You simply cannot ignore tolerances and trq specs, and trying to convince others it is OK is typical childish and ignorant behavior.

Over half the problems posted on this forum come from poeple ignoring proper established techniques in building or swapping parts on their motors.

i was saying that torquing the rocker bolts to 22 ft.lbs. worked.i agree, you can't ignore tolerances and proper engine building procedures and would never advise anyone to do that.
